I'm Lisa I-Kwang Hwang (b. 1971 in Chiayi, Taiwan) based in Joshua Tree, CA, USA. I work FT with IBM in Finance/Accounting (BS in Accounting 1993 and MBA in Finance 1998 from Drexel University in West Philadelphia, PA) with a 27 year career and 24 years remote (yr. 2000) when it was dial up internet. I became a mother at the age of 24 born in December 1995. I became a single mother when I was 29 years old. For over 25 years, I have explored my creative side as a hobby PT. From 2009-2011, I had a creative business called Light Mosaics (mosaic decor, jewelry) and Functional Finds (jewelry holders, vintage jewlery, steampunk jewelry) in Philadelphia, PA. I sold on Etsy, local art markets in Fishtown and local consignment shops. in 2011, I shifted my focus to my son’s golf dreams for a decade (he is 28 yrs old now). I'm a part-time creative studio that experiments with many forms of art styles and mediums. In the end of 2018, I settled in Joshua Tree and started creating again. I went public with my art in May 2022 and had my first SOLO show at 29 Palms Art Gallery in 29 Palms, CA in December 2022.  My current works are whimsical interpretations of the beauty of mother earth. I have collectors from around the world.

 

I'm currently in remission as of 01.27.2024 from Stage 1 GIST cancer which is a rare tissue cancer in your GI tract. I was diagnosed 2 years ago from a colonoscopy. But my mutuation has a 95% chance of reoccurrence so I have to stay on oral chemotherapy medicine called Imatinib for who knows how long. My oncologists is currently saying 10 years.

MY SHOP/BRAND is OMe Haus Studio is located in Joshua Tree, CA, USA at 61877 Twentynine Palms Highway, Joshua Tree, CA 92252 . We are open Friday - Monday 12-5PM with extended hours during the busy season (April - June and Sept - Nov). OMe is from my yoga practice (I've been practicing yoga since 1993 before there were yoga studios) and Haus is from Bauhaus, a German school from 1919-1933 that combined crafts, design and fine arts. 

 

I am a coop supporting small businesses, local artists, my art and wholesale items that I like. 

I like to stay small and local.

I'm terrible at social media marketing. It's a waste of time for me. But feel free to market for me :).

The right people will stumble upon the shop naturally.

I WILL NOT do online sales. Packing and shipping is a pain in the you know what. I did that back in 2009-11 and disliked it.

I WILL do commissions of my DESERTscapes JOSHua paintings customed to the tones/colors you like.
